oh man...

well today in human Geo we had our very first test! the multiple choice was very quick and easy, but the 3 essay questions took a very* long time to do. during the essay question my hand started to cramp up i was shaking because was so nervous. i think i did pretty good but you never know i could have got a 100% or a 50% i wont know till Monday I'm hoping i got a 100! globalization seemed like an easy topic to me because it is mainly about companies and chains of companies expanding all over the world. the questions about the ancient Greeks seemed easy but a little bit harder than the other question. over all i thought the first test today was very easy and i also liked how Mr. Schick allowed us to finish computer homework in the back of the room even though he at first said no computers. thanks Mr. Schick, your pretty cool!

no more nike !!!!

today we discussed the video "behind the swoosh" and we saw a picture of the logo and it said just don't do it. this made controversy between everyone, Steven said he was going to cross out to "do" on his phone case and change it to "don't" because he and everyone else thought that what Nike did in Indonesia was wrong! i believe that it is also wrong because it looks bad on the company and now I'm starting to question if its right for our school uniforms to be sponsored by them because it looks like we support what they are doing. we also said how Logan ordered really expensive shoes from Nike but if she paid that much why do the people that make the shoes only get $1.25 !

only $1.25 !

well... today in class i was truly surprised. we watched a video called behind the swoosh, which was about 2 people who co owned a company that is sponsored by Nike. the 2 people went on a trip to Indonesia to visit the workers of the Nike factory, who prepare and make the Nike products, and in that video we learned that a MULTI- BILLION dollar company only gives their workers $1.25 a day. that is really crazy ! also we saw in the video that the factory dumps scrap rubber products in a park and burn the pile. that is very dangerous for the young children because the toxins in the rubber can harm them. these people cannot eat, use the bathroom, sleep on a bed, all because make $1.25, they can not live the way they do and i honestly feel for them.

did you know?

one fact that surprised me was the fact about 1300 other people like me in china, because people say you are one in a million (said by Mr. Schicke) this just shows us how BIG the country of china is, also how it says china will become the number English speaking country in the world, this manifests to my future because if i get into business one day, English is the language of business so if i go to china people will understand me.

another fact that surprised me was when it says that my generation will have up to 10-14 jobs before the age of 38. my initial reaction to this was, WOW i never thought that i would have 10 to 14 jobs because people always say i will have one job forever. also how it says that the most in demand jobs did not exist in 2004, i think technology has a major impact of this fact because most tech. we have now didn't exist back then like apple, and iPhone.

and the last fact that surprised me was how there are about 12 billion searches on Google a month because even though google is a big thing right now i never thought that it was that big of a number. technology is the reasons for this because google has the ability to go mobile, like on phones, PCs, even gaming systems.also what has to do with this is how face book reached over 50 billion users in only 2 years!
